College Tuition – Attend College For Free
Sometimes college tuition does not cost anything. Yes, you read that statement correctly. Some colleges do not have any tuition costs. Of course,there are not many of these colleges. If your child is interested in being an officer in the military, attending a college run by the federal government may be a good idea. Officers for the military can be trained through this program and pay no college tuition. Students who are interested in this should apply to the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, NY.
If the military is out of the question, there are other schools that do not require students to pay college tuition. Students that attend some of these colleges are required to work on campus for their entire college career. The jobs normally range from answering telephones, working in the cafeteria and working in the library. At the College of the Ozarks, some students work several hours a week on a farm milking cows. In fact, all students at this school pay no college tuition. The small price they pay is through working in order to make the college able to continue the no tuition system. After four years of working and studying, the students walk away as responsible, educated, employable adults. Berea College in Kentucky does not charge college tuition and has a similar mandatory work study program.
Other colleges that do not charge tuition include, Cooper Union in New York, F.W. Olin College of Engineering, and the Curtis Institute in Pennsylvania. As you can see, the list of colleges that do not charge college tuition is extremely short. However, applying to the schools may actually result in saving a great deal, while getting a college degree. Keep in mind that tuition does not include room and board. Students may still have to pay something. However, eliminating college tuition, which is the biggest college expense, can mean getting a degree without debt or the stress that accompanies it.
